GM & Let’s wrap up this year!

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the past 12 months. DIBA has had a busy and successful year, marked by Product Releases, Galleries Debuts, Team Growth and much more. From Bitcoin Miami 2022 to the latest release of BitMask 0.4, it’s been a year of growth and progress for our team. While we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, we’ve come out stronger and more determined than ever and we want to share some journey highlights with you.

Team:

This year, our small but mighty team has nearly doubled and experienced significant growth not only in size but in expertise as well. We’ve welcomed on board FOUR new team members, each bringing with them a unique set of skills and perspectives. Hunter, Francisco, Valeri and Carter are the best addition to the team we could have dreamed of, you can meet them in our tg or learn more about them in our Team Article.

DIBA & BitMask Team

We also had a team member who has left our team and even though it’s hard to say goodbyes, we are wishing Heaven the best of luck with all her new endeavors and keeping an eye on her career new milestones.

Events:

In 2022 we’ve had quite a bit of travels as our team has been busy participating in a variety of exciting Bitcoin and NFT events around the world.

In April, we headed to Bitcoin Miami and had a great time while having our first gallery debut, representing BRADLEY HART, LIL BITCOIN , MEAR ONE, RACHEL LENA ESTERLINE and KRISTA KIM. We were also networking, learning about the latest developments in the industry, giving daily talks at the new stage and organising an unforgettable After Party for those who pop in to Miami.

Some moments together

Apart from Bitcoin Miami, we made our way to Pleb Fi Miami, NFT NYC, LABITCONF, Bitcoin Pizza Day Prague, NFT London, Pacific Bitcoin and Art Basel as speakers and participants. All this events allowed us to reconnect with old frens and made a new ones, and also had some moments together with the team beyond the laptop screens.

Last but not least, we also jump on some virtual events as DIBA was represented at World Crypto Economic Forum Gallery.

Education + Accelerators:

This year our Team was part of Draper Decentralized Studio three-month accelerator programme among other 10 Bitcoin startups. During programme we were working closely with the industry experts from Advanced Blockchain AG, BDO, Texas Blockchain Council, Sovryn, HODL Capital, Galoy, Mimesis Capital, Fulgur Ventures, a41 Ventures and ONG Bitcoin Argentinaworked.

Hero Training at Draper’s University

After pitching, Gideon ( Founder & CEO) was invited to take a Hero Training at Draper’s University. During five-week entrepreneurship program in Silicon Valley, he was attending various speaker panels, workshops and networking events alongside building our products.

BitMask: BitMask had 4 releases over a year: BitMask Beta 0.0.1 ; BitMask Beta 0.0.2, BitMask 0.1.1.0 and the latest release BitMask 0.4.

BitMask 0.4 Highlights:

  • Taproot support
  • Deprecation of SegWit addresses (an old version can be found here)
  • Asset import by RGB genesis now works, but asset import by RGB ID does not
  • Integration of UDAs from the DIBA marketplace

For the latest version of BitMask, we’re now using RGB 0.8, which includes the future-proofed mainnet-stable version of RGB that was released last July. Earlier versions of BitMask used a token node using RGB 0.4, published last year. Modern RGB is more than just a token protocol; it’s a smart contracts protocol that supports a range of tokens. At the moment we’re continuing to make use of RGB20 for our UDAs for now but hope to move to RGB21 when it’s released in the near future.

The wallet now generates P2TR addresses, which on testnet, start with tb1p instead of tb1q. You can remember this by thinking, “taProot with a P, seQwit with a Q”. We will keep a copy of the old SegWit version at https://segwit.bitmask.app/ which can be used to migrate testnet coins in your old wallets to the new wallet. Your mnemonic can stay the same, new keys are derived from a different path from your seed using BIP86 instead of BIP84.

The next release of BitMask will be in January 2023.

Carbonado — new product by DIBA Team.

Now that we have support for digital assets on Bitcoin, we now need a decentralized archival solution that can be paid for with sats, and checkpointed onto the Bitcoin blockchain. Carbonado is the solution we’ve come up with for this. It makes use of the same secp256k1 keys used by Bitcoin and Nostr to encrypt and decrypt your data. It also encodes data in such a way that it can be verified to be custodied remotely by asking for a small slice of the data at a random place within the file periodically, and in return, we stream sats to the storage provider. This is how we don’t just trust, we verify.

Carbonado also builds in error correction codes that are more robust than any standard RAID level (equivalent to RAID 8), and also compression, and is designed to support WASM integrations for client-side validation and improved privacy. We’re presently working with mining datacenters that have been set up to mine Filecoin and Chia; if you’d like to get paid for providing a storage service paid in Bitcoin sats rather than mining shitcoins, we’d be interested in hearing from you.

Finally, once we have the Carbonado Storage Network up and running, we intend to support multiple paid storage frontends, including HTTP, Storm, Hypercore, IPFS, BitTorrent, rsync, FTP, and S3-compatible object storage, in addition to integration within our BitMask wallet and DIBA marketplace. And with the planned implementation of storage markets, DIBA might be the first Carbonado storage consumer, but not the last.

Carbonado: Resilient decentralized storage, no blockchain needed. Watch this space!

It’s been a busy but rewarding year for our team and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Bitcoin, NFTs and DIBA.

With love,

your favourite team.
